DS90UB934-Q1: using transceivers between UB933 and UB934

Part Number: DS90UB934-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I want to use DS90UB933 & DS90UB934 for a specific application.
Serializer is not directly connected to the deserializer. We inserted a transceiver between them.
So we have : serializer(DS90UB933) -> capa -> transceiver (TX) ....... transceiver (RX) -> capa -> deserializer (DS90UB934)

I disable the back channel like described in the answer https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/845575/ds90ub934-q1-how-to-disable-the-back-channel-of-ub934

I can't get any data output by the deserializer. The deserializer does'nt show HS VS neither
I only get a PCLk (60MHz in my case as the one on the serializer)

1/ Is there a limitation that would prohibit the use of a transceiver?

2/ Have you got any idea about what I can test to go further

Thanks in advance.

Samuel

  • Hi Samuel,

    Thank you for reaching out. In general we do not recommend placing additional components between the serializer and deserializer. Additional components introduce return loss and insertion loss, which can degrade the signal between the serializer and deserializer. Can you check register 0x04[2] of the DS90UB934? This bit will be set if the DS90UB934 is locked onto the DS90UB933. Pin 48 of the device can also be monitored over time to verify if the lock signal is a constant high. Establishing a stable lock is essential for the two devices to communicate and function together.
