DS90UB924-Q1: Internal pattern generator

Part Number: DS90UB924-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

1. When graphic data stop from Ser, is it possible to Des output black screen continuously?

2. In same situation of #1, is it possible that Des output internal pattern generator graphic?

3. How to enter internal pattern generator, is there any method without using register? e.g. trigger specific GPIO.

Youhei MIYAOKA

  • Hi Miyaoka-san,

    1. When graphic data stop from Ser, is it possible to Des output black screen continuously?

By default, when lock is lost from the SER the LVDS outputs will become disabled/low. The display interprets the loss of data as black screen.

Because you are asking about PATGEN, I assume by "output black screen" as maintaining the same timing but send all pixel info as 0 (black). Once lock is lost with the SER or data stops coming in, the 924 will not be able to continue outputting the same timing. It does not keep memory of the timing.

The one option the 924 has is to continue outputting the same TxCLKOUT using its own internal oscillator. This can be enabled by 924 register 0x2[5]

    2. In same situation of #1, is it possible that Des output internal pattern generator graphic?

A controller on the remote DES side could monitor the lock status and turn on the 924 PATGEN when lock is lost.

    3. How to enter internal pattern generator, is there any method without using register? e.g. trigger specific GPIO.

924 PATGEN can only be enabled through register.

    Best,

    Jack
