TCAN4550: Max Power consumption of TCAN4550

Part Number: TCAN4550

Tool/software:

Hello, I want to know maximum power consumption of TCAN4550.

Could you please check that I am understanding the datasheet correctly.

In the datasheet Supply current in normal mode, High bus mode  Dominant consumes 90mA, and when bus fault it would be 180mA.

Is this Is this value based on VSUP Power line? I want to know as Wattage.

.

So, If I use VSUP as 24V, then 90mA of 24V would be consumed power in nominal power?

As 24V * 0.09A = 2.16W?

And when bus fault mode it would be 24V * 0.18A = 4.32W?

Thanks.

  • Hello Sukmin,

Yes, this is the current through the VSUP supply pin.  Your power calculations are correct for the maximum loading conditions listed in the datasheet for a high bus load on the CAN bus with and without a fault (short) condition and no additional current load from the internal 5V LDO connected to the VCCOUT pin.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
