DS90UB954-Q1: EQ/SP issues in the MAP tool

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP

Tool/software:

hello support,

I learned that the MAP tool [1] can effectively reflect the quality of the FPD-Link's eye diagram by generating a matrix plot of EQ and SP, which reflects the eye diagram quality by the arrangement of the green matrix.

And I also read in the forum that DS90UB954-Q1 can get the EQ and SP values by monitoring the registers.

I would like to ask how the IC achieves to adjust the EQ levels? And how are the different SP values sampled at different EQ levels? Is there any documentation on this?

thanks

[1] FPD-Link Margin Analysis Program (MAP) user's guide

  • Hello Sun Ji,

The MAP tool forces the AEQ and SFILTER values of the RX Port receiver to specific values and then measures the number of errors that occur at that forced setting. The script will loop through a range of AEQ and SFILTER values in a nested for loop format and then display a green square result if there were no erros detected over a speficic dwell time period. A red square will be displayed if any error was detected when the forced EQ/SFILTER settings were held.

There is documentation on this online:

    www.ti.com/.../snlu243.pdf

If you downloaded ALP, the MAP tool script is also downloaded on your computer as well.
