TUSB4041I: Datasheet question

Part Number: TUSB4041I

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have some questions about this device.

(1) could you explain more about buffer? I cannot find much info in datasheet. Why each TT has 4 buffers?

(2) What does it mean by saying upstream port connected/unconnected?

(3) What is divider mode?

(4) What is automatic mode?

  • (1) could you explain more about buffer? I cannot find much info in datasheet. Why each TT has 4 buffers?

two buffers for IN Bulk transaction  and two for OUT BULK transaction , so IN and OUT transaction  can be done at the same time.

    (2) What does it mean by saying upstream port connected/unconnected?

For TI hub device, upstream port needs to be disconnected from host  for DCP.

but for CDP, upstream port  needs to be connected to host.

    (3) What is divider mode?

This is special charger mode other than BC1.2, there is voltage divider on DP/DM, based on the voltage on DP/DM, hub will know this is divider mode.

    (4) What is automatic mode?

in automatice mode , it provides support for DCP devices and devices that support custom charging indication. When in AUTOMODE, the port automatically switches between a divider mode and the DCP mode depending on the portable device connected.

Let me know if you still have questions

    Best
