TCAN4551-Q1: Minimum capacitance need for VCCFLTR Pin in test mode

Part Number: TCAN4551-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are running the TCAN4551-Q1 in the SPI and M_CAN Core Test Mode and we are using 4.7uF across VCCFLTR Pin externally.

Is it fine to use 4.7uF as we are not using internal CAN transceiver or as recommended in datasheet still it requies minimum of 10uF?

Thank you,

  • Hi Vishwas,

The datasheet specifies a minimum 10uF capacitance on this pin to maintain stable LDO voltage of 5V however, this does assume the CAN transceiver will be pulling current from the LDO.  In the SPI and M_CAN Core test mode, the transceiver will not have the same current load requirements and 4.7uF may be ok.  However, I don't have specific data to confirm this and therefore I can only officially point out that the datasheet recommends a minimum of 10uF which covers all device use modes.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
