ESDS314: Any ESD protection products that support 25Gbps high-speed Ethernet

Part Number: ESDS314
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD1E0B04, TPD1E01B04

Tool/software:

Hi team,

The ESDS314 supports high-speed interfaces up to 5Gbps, but are there any ESD protection products that support 25Gbps high-speed Ethernet?

If not, are there any plans to develop such products in the future?

Best regards,

  • Hi Kyoshei,

We have two devices in our portfolio able to support higher than 25Gbps speeds: TPD1E0B04 and TPD1E01B04. They are both 1-channel ESD diodes which means you would need multiple devices to protect Ethernet lines.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,

    McKenzie

  • Hi McKenzie,

My customer is using a 100Gbps high-speed Ethernet line divided into four channels.

Therefore, they are looking for a single ESD protection IC that can handle a 25Gbps high-speed Ethernet line.

Do you have such a device?

TPD1E0B04 and TPD1E01B04 support up to 20Gbps, right?

    Best regards,

    Kyohei

  • Hi Kyohei,

Both TPD1E01B04 and TPD1E01B04 will support greater than 25Gbps speeds. We use the insertion loss graph that is shown in the Typical Characteristics section to calculate estimated data speeds. So when looking at the graph, find the frequency at 3dB (~50% power point) then use the equation, data rate = 2*frequency.

For TPD1E0B04, the plot reaches 2.5dB so we can use that to get roughly 60Gbps for the data rate. For TPD1E01B04, there are two packages and the insertion loss varies some. For the DPL package, the device can support ~50Gbps and for DPY, the device can support ~40Gbps.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,

    McKenzie
