DP83826I: Why does the Decoupling Cap Advice in the Datasheet Differ from TI's Latest Videos?

Part Number: DP83826I

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am newer to power design and would like help to understand best practices. The DP83826 datasheet suggests a 4-capacitor decoupling network for both power rails:

I stumbled across this video from TI: Decoupling Capacitors

In the video, they assert that 1 small-package (e.g. 0201) capacitor near the ball, and one bulk cap further away, should be sufficient for decoupling.

What are the current best practices? What advice should we follow for our design?

We'd prefer to avoid placing unnecessary parts as it adds parts and complexity to the design.

However, we do not want to deviate from the datasheet recommendations without good reason.

Thank you!
