DS90UB948-Q1: Single/Dual Link FPD-Link with Dual Link OpenLDI Output of SerDes

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Could you help me with two questions, thank you in advance.

Q1.

Current design is using "2-Lane FPD-Link III Input, Dual Link OpenLDI Output"

If we are change the design from current design to "1-Lane FPD-Link III Input, Dual Link OpenLDI Output",

Q1.1 will the image display normally?

Q1.2 What features will be impacted by this change?

Q1.3 Is the mapping of GPIOs on the SerDes pair affected?

Q2.
With spec of display screen(FHD 1920x1080) as below and use to "1-Lane FPD-Link III Input, Dual Link OpenLDI Output",  Can frame rate reach 60fps?

  • Hi Khoi,

This is technically limited by the target PCLK and available single FPD-Link bandwidth. If desired PCLK is less than single FPD-Link then this is feasible with minimal impact.

Looks like their PCLK/resolution is 1920x1080p, with a PCLK of 2060*1114*60=137.7MHz. This well exceeds the single FPD-Link max of 96MHz, therefore it can not be transmitted via only one link.

"he device supports TMDS clocks in the range of 25 MHz to 96 MHz over one lane, or 50 MHz to 170 MHz over two lanes. The FPD-Link III serial stream rate is 3.36 Gbps maximum (875 Mbps minimum), or 2.975 Gbps maximum per lane (875 Mbps minimum) when transmitting over both lanes."

    Regards,

    Logan
