Most devices I've found only go up to 36V!

What is a STB fault? And yes, you are correct. We only have devices that go up to 836V currently, but will clamp in the 50V and 60V range.

STB is short to battery for automotive applications. 48V battery system could go up to 52V DC and so I need this STB protection on our 100BASE-T1 ethernet interface pins.

Thanks for explaining. We currently don't have anything that will support 48V battery system, but we should have a solution in the first half of next year.

If I were two use two ESD diodes connected in series, would that meet the 52V DC STB requirements?

Hi Richard,
Yes, stacking two diodes can be an option. When stacking, anything voltage wise will add (clamping voltage, working voltage, breakdown voltage) as well as capacitance and leakage current. ESD and surge ratings will not add, and instead be the lowest value out of the devices.
ESD601 and ESD2CAN36 might be an option to make sure the capacitance stays low. Are there additional requirements for ESD protection?
ESD601 + ESD2CAN36:
Vrwm: 54V
Vclamp: 96V
Capacitance: 3.1pF
ESD: 15kV
