UA9637A: Compatibility

Part Number: UA9637A

Tool/software:

Hello, I'm trying to verify the following part number UA9637ACDR is interchangeable with DS9637ACM/NOPB but I can only find the datasheets for UA9637A and DS9637A.

  • Hi Friedrich,

So the UA9637A is the device's general purpose name (GPN). The 'C' I believe stands for the temperature rating. The 'D' means the package type (SOIC). The R stands for reel (like in a tape and reel). So the datasheet for UA9637ACDR would be the same datasheet UA9637A (we go by the GPN for datasheets).

DS9637A is the GPN. 'C' refers to the operating temperature range (0C to 70C). And I think the M stands for military (I want to say this means it goes through more thorough final tests or other qualifications but I'm not too familiar). I believe NOPB denotes the SOIC package but for military products. Use the datasheet for the DS9637A GPN, the commercial and the military part share the same datasheet.

In short, both datasheets you are seeing are correct for the GPN.

    UA9637A DS9637A
    Number of channels/receivers 2 2
    Vcc support  5V 5V
Pinout same as other compared device Yes Yes
    Vth+ 0.2V 0.2V
    Vth- -0.2V -0.2V
    Typical Hysteresis 70mV 70mV
Max prop delay low to high 25ns 25ns
Max prop delay high to low  25ns 25ns
Max support common mode +/-15V +/-15V
Max Short circuit current 100mA 100mA

Overall, I see the two device's electrical parameters as exactly the same. I suspect the DS device was a copied spec from the UA9637 device. My guess is National Semiconductor (TI acquired them around 2010) was trying to make a pin to pin version of the UA9637A device which is why the specs look the same.
