DS90UB927Q-Q1: Application issues

Part Number: DS90UB927Q-Q1

Tool/software:

1.In the repeater mode of DS90UB927 and 928, will there be I2C address conflicts between multiple I2C devices hanging under 928 on the display side, such as touch and IO expansion ICs?

2.Can the transmission distance of FPDlink signal reach 30 meters? If not, how far can you go? Does long-distance transmission need to be relayed?

  • Hi Wei,

    1.In the repeater mode of DS90UB927 and 928, will there be I2C address conflicts between multiple I2C devices hanging under 928 on the display side, such as touch and IO expansion ICs?

    If there are multiple I2C devices on the local 928 I2C bus with the same address, then there will be a conflict. Since you are talking about repeater mode, the FPD-Link devices can use aliasing send I2C transactions to different levels of the repeater topology. But ultimately if there multiple I2C devices with the same address on the same bus there will be a conflict.

    2.Can the transmission distance of FPDlink signal reach 30 meters? If not, how far can you go? Does long-distance transmission need to be relayed?

    The typical max distance for these devices is roughly 10 meters. Please notice that this is a typical value. The type of cable will influence your length of transmission.

    For a reach of 30 meters, the system would require two levels of repeater (assuming 10m between each link):

    • 927 -> (928 -> 927) -> (928->927) -> 928

    We have a channel specifications that specifies the max amount of loss for these devices. I cannot share this over the E2E forum. I can only share the channel specs over email.

    Best,

    Jack
