SN65DSI83: Decoupling and bulk capacitors for VCC and VCORE pins

Part Number: SN65DSI83

Tool/software:

Hello,

In our HMI project, we decided to use SN65DSI83 for MIPI to LVDS bridge converter.

In the datasheet, there is a sentence for the VCC and VCORE pin decoupling capacitors.

However, the capacitors on the eval board are selected as shown in the attached image.

According to the datasheet and the eval board, which design would be more reliable?

For the VCORE pin, is the minimum value of 1u the derated value, or do you recommend a larger value instead of 1u?

Best regards,

Egemen Aksoy

  • Hi Egemen,

The capacitors use in the EVM were tuned to remove the power supply ripple on our board. These values will vary from board to board. The recommendation of 100nF per pin is a general rule of thumb.

I recommend going with the 100nF per pine and including one bulky can (10uF) and one smaller cap (10nF). total of 7+2 caps

For VCORE 1uF should be enough
