TUSB216-Q1: CDP controller feature

Part Number: TUSB216-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25830-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I want to know how customer uses this CDP controller.

This feature is used when they don't have a charger with CDP controller, right?

They should pull CDP_ENZ to low. When a device is connected, TUSB216-Q1 can tell the device the system supports CDP.

If their charger has CDP controller, then they can disable this function.

For example, when they use TPS25830-Q1(it has CDP controller) and TUSB216-Q1 both in their system, they should disable TUSB216-Q1 CDP controller, right?

Is my understanding right?

Regards,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Yes, this feature is just meant to advertise that the system can support CDP functionality. If the host, hub, or another device in the system can also do this, then this pin can be left floating to disable the controller functionality in the redriver.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
