DS90UB984-Q1: adopt two-channel FPD-LINK and STP mode with one EPD output instead of Daisy chain output.

Part Number: DS90UB984-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear

At present, we have a screen resolution of 4032*756 fs 60Hz. DS90UB984RURRQ1 is selected, and the initial calculation is 4.6Gbps. It is planned to adopt two-channel FPD-LINK and STP mode with one EPD output instead of Daisy chain output.
There are many different modes of power consumption in the specification, according to the above information we use that assessment, according to the screen resolution and frame rate information recommended to use what way?

  • Hi Liu,

Just to be clear, are you asking which configuration is suitable to meet the screen resolution of 4032*756 at 60 Hz while using the least power consumption?

Could you also please provide the blanking / sync period information of the display specifications?

    • This will help provide a more accurate calculation for the forwarding rate over the FPD-Link.

    Thanks,

    Miguel

  • Hi Liu,

According to these specifications you may only need approximately 4.5 Gbps of bandwidth on the RX channel from the device. This can be achieved using single port 6.75 Gbps or Dual 3.675 Gbps.

I can message you privately discussing

The closest specification we have for the dual port 3.675 Gbps with 1 eDP output and no daisy chain is using the following condition:

Dual FPD-Link III input (3.675 Gbps), 2 x eDP output 4 lanes each at RBR 1.62Gbps, no daisy-chain output

under the data sheet section 6.5: Electrical Characteristics.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best,

    Miguel
