Dear TI,

Currently I'm looking for Ser/Der for SoC to external display using FDPLink-4 spec and required daisy chain as well

I'm suppose SoC output is 24bit LVDS interface, and go to external display input is 24bit LVDS interface as well

But, I had checking the data sheet, the FDPLink-4 only DP/eDP function, is there any alternative solution that I can study?

Hi Chuan,

Currently, the FPD-Link IV serializers are DS90UB981-Q1 (MIPI DSI) and DS90UB983-Q1 (DP/eDP).

For your application would it be possible to use DP/eDP or MIPI DSI instead?

Hi Mun Ei,

The Ser-Des are compatible with all the devices listed in the datasheet, and also backwards compatible with previous generation devices.

So, it is compatible with 98x deserializers:
- DS90UB984-Q1 (DP/eDP)
- DS90UB988-Q1 (OLDI (10 LVDS data lanes + 2 clocks)

And backwards compatible:
– 720P 92x and 1080P/2K 94x product families
– ADAS 936, 954, 960, 962, 9702, 9722 deserializers

So, for your application, you could use a combination like this (or different devices depending on video interface needed):

Hi Mun Ei,

What input video interface are you using?
Please check the SoC interface and choose from the serializers that support that interface.

The SER and DES datasheet have a list of all compatible devices. To select a device, you would want to check:

1. The Input Interface of SER (for example the DS90UB981-Q1 and DS90UB941AS-Q1 have MIPI DSI interface, DS90UB925-Q1 is LVCMOS/RGB, etc)

2. Output interface required (DS90UB988-Q1, DS90UB948-Q1 are LVDS/OLDI, and DS90UB984-Q1 is DP/eDP, etc)

3. The data rate required (the datasheet for each FPD4 or FPD3 generation device will list the video bandwidth supported, along with features such as daisy-chaining)

Dear Ikram,

Could you share me the data sheet of DS90UB943A?

At the moment, I do not know the SoC output signal to Ser, as the SoC is 3rd party solution

the UB943 and the UB981, UB983 ..etc are all NDA restricted devices. Datasheets are only accessible on our CDDS. Please contact your local TI representative and they will help you.
