TCAN1043-Q1: TCAN1043-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1043-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi, I have a question about wake-up sequence of CAN transciever.
1. When the wake-up pattern comes into the transceiver through the busbar from the outside, the transceiver goes into the wake-up state and the INH pin is activated?
(Is it true that "When a wake-up pattern is received, the transceiver wakes up immediately and the INH pin is activated?")
2. To wake up the transceiver,
1) Apply wake-up pattern to transceivers
2) INH pin activate
3) MCU on
4) Enable STB_N, EN signal to specify the exact operating mode of the transceiver from the MCU
I wonder if it's going to proceed with this sequence. if this is wrong, can you explain the right sequence of transciever wake-up??
3. I don't know how the INH pin contributes when waking up transceiver.
Thank you.
  • Hello,

    1. Yes, after a wake up event is read on the CAN bus or through the wake pin, the device enters the Standby Mode, which turns INH high. Typically the INH pin is connected to a PMIC enable pin. However, the transceiver does not turn on immediately. There is a small delay due to the PMIC turning on and supplying VCC (and VIO if setup this way) to the transceiver.

    2. This sequence of events is correct. To clarify however, this assumes that VSUP is powered on and the device is in Sleep mode initially.

    3. Section 8.4.9 of the datasheet further describes the INH pin.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,

    Ethan
