DS90UB947-Q1: Is there any solution to convert eDP to MIPI CSI2?

Part Number: DS90UB947-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

Currently I am trying to find a solution to convert eDP (2560x1440@60Hz) to MIPI CSI-2 signal, is there any solution to do this?

I noticed that in previous threads, someone said that we could use UB947->UB940 to convert LVDS to MIPI signal, but the UB947 works for openLDI input, not eDP. Can the UB947 work for eDP? Thanks.

  • Hi Wendi,

The UB947 does not accept eDP input. The only FPD-Link solution possible is to use the UB983 serializer with the UB940 deserializer. The UB940 is limited to a max PCLK of 170MHz which cannot support 2560*1440 at 60Hz. A lower resolution or frame rate would need to be used to get the PCLK at or below 170MHz.

  • Hi Jack,

Thanks for response. Is there any other solution such as converting eDP to HDMI firstly, and then convert to MIPI? I just want to convert eDP to MIPI CSI-2, and do not care which chip is used. Thanks.

  • Hi Wendi,

There is no FPD-Link solution for converting eDP to HDMI. Deserializer support of MIPI protocols are limited on the display side which limits options available.

The only other option I see is to use a DP to DSI converter to interface with a UB981. The UB981 can support conversion to ADAS deserializers which are optimized for CSI-2 output. I cannot discuss too many details on the UB981 since it is not a public device. Please contact your local TI representative for more details.

  • Hi Jack,

Thanks for the info. So if there is any deserializer which could be paired with UB981? For example, could UB9722 or 9702 work with UB981 to convert DSI to MIPI CSI-2? Thanks.

  • Hi Wendi,

Those deserializers can be paired with the UB981 to convert DSI to CSI-2. As I previously mentioned, these devices are restricted to certain customers so I cannot discuss any further details on this forum. You can reach out via email to continue this discussion.
