Good day

I have a project where I need to convert 1GB Ethernet (copper) to a fiber link.

I was looking at the DP83849IFVS-EVK development kit and the Optic converter is listed as HFBR-5803. When I search for this part, it is listed as obsolete. Is there a direct replacement part or is there a newer evaluation kit with new components fitted?

Any suggestions are welcome. As a note, this project is for a rugged environment..

    Thank you for your query, I am happy to assist. First, I wanted to clarify some points

    Is there a specific requirement you are looking to meet? We have some devices with extended temperature ranges and increased immunity applications

    The DP83849 is an older part, which is probably why the evaluation module includes obsolete parts

    I believe the part DP83869HM would fit your requirements. It has the following features built in to the PHY itself - 

    • Extended temperature range of -40°C to 125°C
    • High Immunity (>8kV)
    • MII, RGMII, SGMII support
    • Media converter support (Cu to FX) at 100/1000 Mbps speeds
