SN65HVD1781A-Q1: Storage Temperature Specification

Part Number: SN65HVD1781A-Q1

Tool/software:

The minimum temperature specification for both operation and storage in the datasheet is -40C.  Is this correct, or is there additional margin for the storage temperature value (I would expect something along the lines of -55C)?  Thanks in advance for the support.

  • Hi Jim,

I can try to see if I can reach out to someone who may know the answer to this. Usually these questions are a bit tricky to find since I don't think we have a database that just gives us the answer. My guess is it's probably -55C since most of our devices support that and the recommended operating supports -40C. The last time we did this exercise for another part, we were able to make the change to -55C but it took a lot of back and forth looping in multiple people....

  • Sounds good Bobby - let me know what you find out.

  • Hi Jim,

Still waiting to hear back. Since this week people are out of office for thanksgiving break, we may need to wait longer than normal. I'll send a follow up ping on Monday of next week.

  • No issues with waiting until after the Thanksgiving break.  Thanks for digging into this.

  • Hi Jim,

Good news is the engineer responded back today. He said we can make the change to the datasheet to make the storage min temp to -55C.

Changes to min/max parameters in the datasheet can take a bit of time to roll through though (datasheet is also in the old format which takes longer to update to our standard). With holidays coming up, it may take longer if all the approvals don't go in before Christmas break. I'll try to push it through before then but it may end up happening after the new years.

  • Bobby, that is great news.  Thanks again for pursuing this update and have a great Thanksgiving break.

  • Sure thing Jim, I'll give you an update next week on the status of the approval process. I'll leave this thread open (internally we close threads when we think they are completely resolved, so you won't see this but it will allow myself and management to see what needs to be closed) until we finish updating it.
