SN65CML100: Does the SN65CML100 support also DC?

Part Number: SN65CML100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS100

Tool/software:

Is there any minimum Frequency the SN65CML100 supports, or can we assume DC-1.5-Gbps.

Best regards

  • Hi,

If you look at Figure 5, you can see this part is operating from 250Mbps to 1.5Gbps.

    Thanks

    David

  • Sorry, but this seems to be the typical Frequency for which the device supply current is characterised, for comparable divices minimum frequency  is someware stated in the Datasheet - e.g. sn65lvds100  (DC-2GBps). I currelty see no reason wayan LVDS to CML  would have an minimum frequency other than DC - if yes an comprehensive explenation would be nice, if not TI pleasec give confimation

  • Hi,

Looking at the maximum receiver input voltage thread table as shown below, for example, if we apply 1V on VIA and 0V on VIB or vice versa, we will get a H or L on the output, so this is basically the DC signaling rate which we drive a constant voltage at the inputs. In this case the SN65CML100 will support the minimum of DC signaling rate.

But typical characteristics plots in the datasheet do not show any characteristic data at DC, so I don't know SN65CML100 behavior at the DC signaling rate. So I went with the available data on SN65CML100 and the plot shows the characteristic data available at minimum signaling rate is 125MHz.

    Thanks

    David
