TUSB1142: Pinstrap setting

Part Number: TUSB1142

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are planning to use following setting. Please review it to get the best performance.

MODE: Level=0 (Pin-strap mode)

AEQENZ: Level=0 (AEQ enabled)

AEQCFG: Level=F (FULLAEQ_UPPER_EQ = 8h)

EQCFGLevel=F

SSEQ1/SSEQ0: Level=0/0 (0.6dB) <=Currently set to the smaller number.

CEQ1/CEQ0: Level=F/F(10.7dB) <= Since AEQ is enabled, CEQ1 and CEQ0 are neglected?

Here are quetions.

  1. Are CRX1 and CRX2 EQ not necessary to set up during AEQ enabling mode ?
  2. If our target EQ Gain of the CRX receiver is 5 to 6.16 dB. Should we select higher gain 6.1 dB rather than 5dB ?

Our PCB Trace of Length XCD is 25.577mm/29.547mm (1.007inch/1.163inch).

  1. If our target EQ Gain of the SSTX receiver to 1.84dB, there are 0.6dB and 2.8dB candidates, In this case, should we select higher gain 2.8dB ?

Our PCB Trace of Length XAB is 46.844mm (1.844inch).

  1. Our EQ Gain of CRX receiver is 5 to 6.16dB, so is it okay to set this pin to "F": FULLAEQ_UPPER_EQ = 8h ?

  • Hi Mochizuki,

    1. Yes, you do not need to set up CEQ if AEQ is enabled. AEQ will set these.

    2. I recommend using the lower setting in this case. If you over-equalize the signal, it can add jitter that degrades the signal integrity.

    3. You can start with 0.6dB and change as needed. In general I recommend having both pullup and pulldown resistor options on the SSEQ pins to tune the EQ after your design is fabricated.

    4. Yes that would be ok. I recommend having the option to change this as needed by using both a pullup and pulldown resistor option.

    Best,

    Shane

  • Hi Shane,

    Thank you for your prompt answer.

    We are going to follow yuor suggestion.
