TLK2711-SP: About IC Using for Fibre Channel Interface

Part Number: TLK2711-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK1501

Tool/software:

Hi,

TLK2711-SP component that can be used gigabit transceiver protocol for interfaces. I want to use this component for the Fibre Channel Interface.

It decodes and encodes the  data using the 8-bit/10-bit decoding format. This format is applicable for the Fibre Channels. Can I use this component for my researches?

Thanks

  • Hi Abdullah,

TLK2711-SP cannot support gigabit transmission, as the high-speed side of this device can only operate in the range 1.6 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps. TLK1501 is a similar device which cn support gigabit transmission. The high-speed side of this device operates in the range 0.6 Gbps to 1.5 Gbps.

Also note that both of these devices operate purely electrically. You will need another device to convert from electrical to optical.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas,

    Thanks for your feedback.

However, my question is that no asking for this.

    TLK2711 datasheet's says that
"TLK2711-SP supports an effective serial interface speed of 1.6Gbps to 2.5Gbps." My Fibre Channel interface baudrate has two different speed channels: 1.0625Gbps channel and up to this baudrate channel (<10Gbps).

Then Fibre channel interfaces can be transmitted by copper (electrically) if you have a <10Gbps serial
    interface speed.

I need to help for a serial high speed data can be converted for the parallel data's and other station SerDes components.

Is the TLK2711 8b/10b protocol is suitable for the fibre channel transmission protocol layer (8b/10b encoding and decoding and error control)?

As you wrote that for TLK1501 component, Is the TLK1501 8b/10b protocol is suitable for the fibre channel transmission protocol layer? :)

    Best,

    Thanks
