ADS1015 ADC Interface with ABT375 Gear-Tooth Sensor

Part Number: ADS1015

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are planning to use the ADS1015 ADC with the ABT375 Gear-Tooth Sensor, which has a maximum output range of 100-600 mVpp/V. However, the minimum FSR value for the ADS1015 is ±0.256. Given this, will the ADS1015 ADC be able to support the Gear-Tooth Sensor directly, or is it necessary to add an amplifier circuit in between?

Please refer to the attached block diagram and confirm whether this direct configuration will work.

  • Hi Praneeta,

which has a maximum output range of 100-600 mVpp

This voltage range can be measured by the ADS1015.

However, the minimum FSR value for the ADS1015 is ±0.256.

This would be the highest gain setting of the ADC. This does not mean that the minimum voltage the ADS1015 can measure is .256V. At that setting configuration, the ADC can measure voltages between -.256V and +.256V.

For the range 100-600mV, you could use the ±1.024V setting.

A smaller FSR setting corresponds to a smaller voltage value for an LSB

    Best Regards,

    Angel
