TLIN1021A-Q1: Difference between TLIN1029-Q1 and TLIIN1029A-Q1

Part Number: TLIN1021A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLIN1029-Q1, TLIN1029A-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear TI experts,

My customer wants to find the Difference between TLIN1029-Q1 and TLIIN1029A-Q1.

I found E2E thread below, the expert said that TLIN1029A-Q1 fixed duty cycle issue which TLIN1029-Q1 have.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1092005/tlin1029a-q1-what-is-the-difference-between-tlin1029adrbrq1-and-tlin1029drbrq1

But the document SLLA490 says only about TLIN1029-Q1 and TLIN1029-Q1, not TLIN1029A-Q1.

1. Could you explain the differences about duty cycle between TLIN1029-Q1 and TLIN1029A-Q1?

2. Could you provide more detailed information which is explained Errata document(SLLA490)?

3. Is it okay to use TLIN1029-Q1 if it has duty cycle issue? I saw that TLIN1029-Q1 is sold to many customers so far.

Please check these issues. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

    1. The difference between TLIN1029-Q1 and TLIN1029A-Q1 is the same as mentioned in the errata, for the minor change.

    2. According to the standards, the D1 duty cycle requirement is typically set at a minimum value of 0.396 (as an example). Hence, errata is indicating a 2 % increase as 0.404. I.e the time the LIN bus spends in the logic low state being at least 39.6% as opposed to 40.4%. Similarly for D2 for 7 %, D4 for 1 %. Please note that the concern is within a certain VSUP range on the non-A versions of the device.

    3. Yes, it is okay to use if not concerned about the minor change or if VSUP is not between 7.4 V to 9.4 V. I would further recommend using the non-A versions, if concerned, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
