TCAN1044A-Q1: Can the VCC power supply be removed in standby mode to save leakage?

Part Number: TCAN1044A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team

The customer wants to hang a 3V3 long-term pull-up on RX, and a 3V3 constant power on VIO. It is hoped that the VCC (5V) power supply will be turned off in standby to save leakage. I understand that if VCC is turned off, the WUP monitor will not work, and it will not be able to receive WUP information from CANH and CANL to wake up.
Is my understanding correct?

  • Hi Alan,

Please note that devices without suffix 'V' do not have Vio. I presume your concerns pertains to TCAN1044A(V)-Q1.

Hence, note that the low power receiver is powered using the VIO pin similar to the below. Hence, allowing VCC to be removed to help further reduce power consumption, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
