Can TCA9517A convert I2C and SMbus to I2C? or other suggest product?

    Hi Kevin,

    TCA9517A is compatible to I2C and SMBus applications. 

    When you say "Convert I2C and SMBus to I2C" I have not seen this type of application before? I believe SMBus only has a few minor differences to the I2C spec, like a minimum clock speed for SCL which makes clock stretching not possible. 

    TCA9517A can pass I2C and SMBus waveforms. It is a 400kHz I2C/SMBus Buffer/re-driver chip and is bi-directional. It cannot however convert an I2C packet into an SMBus packet? What would the difference be between an I2C packet and SMBus packet?
