TCA9517: Recommended I2C devices

Part Number: TCA9517
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9511A, TCA9406, , , TCA39306

Tool/software:

Dear Technical Support Team,

I have been investigating that one Master board and two Slave boards with a cable or backboard with I2C connection.

①Buffer  (For example, TCA9511A)
②Translator  (For example, TCA9406)
③Buffer, Translator  (For example, TCA9517)

Q1
What is the difference between ① and ② ?
For example, a pull-up is connected to ②TCA9406 ,
The ③TCA9517 also requires a pull-up resistor to give a High level. is described in the datasheet.

Q2
What I2C device do you recommend from the configuration diagram I'm considering?
I would like to send a diagram of the configuration by internal, so will make a Friendship Request.

Requirement:
 400kbps (fast mode)
 No hot-swapping required

Best Regards,

ttd

TCA9511A is a hot-swap buffer. TCA9406 is a passive level translator with rise-time and fall time accelerator circuity + 10k internal PU resistors. TCA9406 does not have any re-drive capability.

If we need to take the discussion offline to share the configuration diagram, please send an email at t-townsend@ti.com to continue the conversation.

TCA9517 or TCA9517A sounds like it would do the trick based off the following requirements and if you need I2C buffering.

If buffering / re-driving is not needed, you might consider something simpler like the TCA39306.

  • Hi Tyler,

    Thank you for your reply.

I got TCA9511A and TCA9517 or TCA9517A have buffer function.

I sent my configuration document and question s by Email.

    please check it.

    Best Regards,
