TPD2S300: TPD2S300YFFR TPS25730DREFR

Part Number: TPD2S300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25730, TPS25751

Tool/software:

Hello,

I want to use the TPD2S300YFFR to protect my USB-C PD connection to the TPS25730DREFR USB Controller.

I will use these to supply power to the system, MCU, etc. I plan to also provide power for charging the backup battery. (6S NiMH)

I am not sure what is the best way to connect the TPD2S300YFFR to support the CC pins protection in all cases including dead battery condition.

Is it possible to do a liquid detection in this setup?

Can you please guide me throw this?

Thanks

-Tal

  • Hi Tal,

    Thank you for reaching out!

I will get back to you with feedback early next week.

  • Hi Tal,

    • The TPS2S300 has integrated dead battery Rd pull-down resistors to allow dead battery charging simultaneously with high-voltage OVP protection.
    • Moisture/liquid can cause the VBUS pin to be shorted to the CC pins in which the TPS2S300 provides 20-V short-to-VBUS protection.
    • The TPS25730 and TPS2S300 do not have support for Liquid detection as defined in the USB PD specification.

If you are interested in a device with Liquid Detection and Corrosion Mitigation, I would suggest looking into the TPS25751. The TPS25751 also has integrated control for select TI battery chargers.

    Best Regards,
