Hi
My design is DP++.
I need HDMI redriver and DP redriver in single solution.
Does SN65DP141 meet the requirement.

Hi,
SN65DP141 re-driver will take the DP++ input and outputs DP++, it does not have the level shifter to support DP++ to HDMI.
TDP0604 is one possible solution, but you have to make sure its output is AC-coupled to support DisplayPort.
Thanks

Hi
In my design , when MCU in DP++ mode, it will change to HDMI signal if detect HDMI Conn,
But I think HDMI signal level is diffirent to DP signal.
Can I use the same schematic design to meet both signal level ?
Hi,
The DP++ Source can logically output either DisplayPort or HDMI for the support of DVI or HDMI monitors. The mechanical connector and electrical portion of the signal remain in the DisplayPort domain. A dual-mode DisplayPort cable adaptor, such as TDP0604, is required to convert the mechanical connector as well as the electrical aspects of the signal from DisplayPort to HDMI.
For your design, do you intend to connect the DP++ source to a DisplayPort connector or DisplayPort connector and a HDMI connector?
Thanks
David
Hi
For your design, do you intend to connect the DP++ source to a DisplayPort connector or DisplayPort connector and a HDMI connector?
--> yes , this is my design concept.
Do you mean only TDP0604 can support both protocol (DP/HDMI) , and SN65DP141 can't meet my requiment ?
Hi,
DP141 does not have the level shifter to convert the DP electrical to HDMI electrical, it is a re-driver only so it will be DP++ input to DP++ output.
TDP0604 has two configuration modes, one as a DP re-driver same as the DP141. The other is the DP++ to HDMI level shifter.
For your design, are you only going to have the DP connector?
Thanks
David
My design is the DP connector with DP ++ function.
And the 2 mode of DP ++ are trigger by diffrent hotplug pin status
Does TDP0604 can support DP and HDMI signal with the same schematic BOM ?
Hi,
The 2 mode of DP++ should be triggered by CONFIG1 status, not HPD. If CONFIG1 is low, then it is DP. If CONFIG1 is high, then it is HDMI through the external level shifter.
If you are using the DP connector in your design, then the output will be DP++. Then depending on the CONFIG1 status, it will be either DP or HDMI (through an external level shifter such as TDP0604) connected to the DP connector.
You can not have the same schematic BOM as one would require a DP connector and other a HDMI connector.
Thanks
David
Hi David
Does CONFIG1 is specific pin ?
I don't see tne pin out is related to CONFIG1.
or HDMI and DP signal is set by SCL/CFG0 ?
Hi,
Please see attached DP141 EVM schematic,
CONFIG1 is a pin of the DP connector, pin 13.
Thanks
David
Hi
Thank your sharing
If CONFIG1 is low, then it is DP. If CONFIG1 is high, then it is HDMI through the external level shifter.
--> in my design ,
CPU get CONFIG1 low , then CPU send out DP signal.
CPU get CONFIG1 high, then CPU send out Hdmi signal.
and CPU can comunicate to DP_aux or HDMI SRC.
what I need is " when CPU send out DP signal , or HDMI signal , then TI redriver solution can support both design"
Hi,
what I need is " when CPU send out DP signal , or HDMI signal , then TI redriver solution can support both design"
Unfortunately we will not have this solution as DP and HDMI are two separate protocols.
Thanks
David
Hi,
This is set by the SCL/CFG0 and AC_EN pin as shown below
If SCL/CFG0 = 0 and AC_EN = 1, with DC-coupled input, then TDP0604 acts as a HDMI re-driver.
If SCL/CFG0 = 0 and AC_EN = 1, with AC-coupled input, then TDP0604 acts a DP++ to HDMI level shifter
If SCL/CFG0 = 1 and AC_EN = 1, with AC-coupled input, then TDP0604 acts a DP re-driver.
If
CPU get CONFIG1 low , then CPU send out DP electrical with DP protocol.
CPU get CONFIG1 high, then CPU send out DP electrical with HDMI protocol, and you will need a level shifter to convert from DP electrical to HDMI electrical while keeping the HDMI protocol.
Thanks
David
