Hello,

We want to interface the TLK 2501 serial interface to an optical transceiver. Looks like the Netlight 1417K4A is obsolete. Can i use the finisar FTLX8574D3BCL Datasheet by Finisar Corporation | Digi-Key Electronics transceiver with the TLK 2501? If so, is there a reference design about the matching circuitry? Or is there any other optical transceiver for this purpose?

Hi Ahmet,

My apologies for the delay.

Note that the serial interface of TLK2501 can only support data rates in the range of 1.5Gbps to 2.5Gbps. I see that FTLX8574D3BCL is a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ module. It is unclear to me if this module can also support lower data rates, but this will be necessary to work with TLK2501. I don't see any electrical compatibility issues between this module and the TLK.

Thank you Lucas. I need only 1 Gbps bandwidth. So the 10G/1G Dual Rate (10GBASE-SR and 1000BASE-SX) 400m Multimode Datacom SFP+ Optical Transceiver dual rate module should be ok i think. Am i right?

Hi Ahmet,

1G is outside of the range supported by TLK2501. I recommend using TLK1501 instead, which supports data rates in the range of 0.6Gbps to 1.5Gbps. TLK1501 is functionally equivalent to TLK2501 other than the data rate range.
