SN75LVPE3410: Redriver for Aurora protocol on GTP

My customer is looking for a redriver solution for Aurora protocol on AMD's GTP port.

Does SN75LVPE3410 and SN75LVPE3101 works as the redriver for Aurora? The data rate is up to 3.2Gbps and AC coupled.

    Although SN75LVPE3410 and 3101 are intended for PCIe applications, these devices are protocol agnostic and can be used with other protocols such as Aurora. We do have a wide portfolio of redrivers, so other devices may be a better fit. I have a few questions to make the best recommendation.

    • How many channels or lanes need to be supported?
    • Are these bidirectional lanes or unidirectional channels?
    • How much insertion loss needs to be boosted by the redriver at Nyquist frequency (1.6GHz)?

    Thank you for your advice.

    Their system has 2 lanes x 4, unidirectional.

    They expect 15dB at 1.6GHz.

    Could you suggest the best device?

    Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately SN75LVPE3410 and 3101 do not have enough EQ boost capability to compensate 15dB @ 1.6GHz.

    If 2 unidirectional channels x 4 = 8 channels exist on one board, please consider DS125BR800. This device has 8 unidirectional channels and EQ boost up to 18.7dB @ 1.5GHz.

    If each board only contains 2 unidirectional channels, please consider DS100BR210. This device has 2 unidirectional channels and EQ boost up to 18.4dB @ 1.25GHz. Although the datasheet doesn't explicitly show EQ boost at lower frequency, this device shares the same high-speed IP as DS80PCI102 which explicitly shows EQ boost @ 1.25GHz. (DS80PCI102 is a bad fit because it is a bidirectional device.)
