Tool/software:
Hello,
we would prefer to use the DP83825I in combination with a RJ45 Jack with integrated magnetics. In datasheet, there is a recommendation for a capacitance of 1.1µF for each PHY side center tap to GND.
Most RJ45 Jacks with integrated magnetics have integrated center tap capacitors with 0.1µF. Here an example:
Has TI experiance with the DP83825I in combination with RJ45 Jacks with center tap capacity of 0.1µF?
Would you recommend to use discrete magnetics with 1.1µF instead of RJ45 Jacks with center tap capacity of 0.1µF?
Best regards
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang,
We have not done any characterization with different center tap combinations other than datasheet recommendation. Any deviation from our recommendations puts validation responsibility on customer.
Customer is free to explore if integrated RJ-45 can work for their use case, but ultimately they will be responsible for validation for their use cases.
Sincerely,
Gerome
