SN65DSI83: MIPI-DSI to TTL 24-Bit RGB

Hello TI Team,

I am looking for a solution to connect a 24 bit RGB display with a resolution of 480x272 and a pixel clock/DCLK of typ. 9 MHz (8-12 MHz) to a MIPI-DSI interface or to a SN65DSI83.

I have 3 questions:

If I have read it correctly from the data sheet, the SN65DSI83 can only work from a pixel clock of 25 MHz. Is this correct and is the module therefore incompatible with the display?
Do you know the minimum pixel clock that a MIPI-DSI interface can provide?
Can you suggest a solution how I can connect the display to a MIPI-DSI interface?

DSI83 is a bridge solution for MIPI DSI to LVDS. Unfortunately we do not have a RGB to MIPI DSI solution in our product portfolio.

I apologize, I thought you are looking for a RGB to MIPI DSI solution.

For MIPI-DSI to RGB, you can use DS90UB941AS-Q1 -> DS90UB926-Q1. The DS90UB926-Q1 can support 5- to 85-MHz PCLK.

Hello David,

the DS90UB941 data sheet specifies the following at page 25: ‘The device supports pixel clocks in the range of 25 MHz to 105 MHz over one lane or 50 MHz to 210 MHz over two lanes. The FPD-Link III serial stream rate is a maximum of 3.675 Gbps per lane (minimum 875 Mbps).’. Only the DS90UB926 supports 5-85 MHz.

Is it realy possible to use the DS90UB941 für a 9 MHz Pixel Clock?

Hi Dirk,

The lowest PCLK that the 941AS can support is 25 MHz. We do not have a DSI to RGB converter that can support down to 9 MHz. Is it possible for this PCLK to run at a higher refresh rate, at a higher PCLK?

The maximum pclk is only 12 MHz.
