SN65LVDT32B: ESD Clarification

Part Number: SN65LVDT32B

Tool/software:

Hi team - can you help with the below? Thanks!

Need some clarification please,

The esd rating table for SN65LVDT32BD is less clear than it could be:

Because here A is the noninverting receiver input, and B is the inverting receiver input. To say nothing of the gate pins, output pins, or VCC…

So are the A pins the only ones at 15kV rating?   A and B only?     Or are all pins on the device rated to 15kV?

But the SN65LVDS33D table makes the difference in rating between groupings of pins much more apparent:

Or am I reading that wrong?

So my question for both of them I guess is “what is the lowest ESD HBM rating any pin on the devices have?”

  • Adding images from above question

  • Hi Alex,

For both of those devices, they have 15kV HBM for the bus pins, which for LVDS receivers is just the A and B pins. I am seeing that table you shared in both device datasheets, and they both describe the devices having 15kV HBM for only the A and B pins. The other pins do not have any ESD protection since they are not bus facing pins.

If you want additional ESD protection, I would recommend the ESD204 or TPD1E1B04 for LVDS.

Let me know if that answers your question or if you have any other questions,
