I am going to use TMDS1204 for my project, as exactly a liner re-driver (not as a limited re-driver mode), let me clarify a point regarding the SWAP LANE feature.

I have the TMDS1204 evaluation board, and control that via I2C, so I noticed even if I don’t touch LANE_SWAP bit (0x0b[7] – default 0) the EVB still works. In general, it looks like LANE_SWAP bit does not affect to the behavior of the EVB at least in the linear mode.

So, I suppose the LANE_SWAP is important for some internal algorithms in limited mode and/or for signal detection, etc.

Could you please comment it?

Hi,

This is an expected behavior as the input lane order matches with the output lane order as shown below.

But without enabling the TMDS1204 SWAP function, the CLK signal will have RX equalization applied (in linear mode) and RX equalization, TX SWING, Pre/De-emphasis applied (in limited mode) which could over-compensate the signal. The IN_D2P will not have any signal compensation which could cause under-equalization. So you may have functional issue depending on your setup.
