Hi Walid,

Please find the functional safety documentation for the TCAN1462-Q1 on the product page on TI.com. All our CAN transceiver devices support ASIL B at the system level, but they are not rated for ASIL B by themselves.

If I understand correctelly, the TCAN1462-Q1 support ASIL-B By using E2E communication protection mechanisms, faults in lower software and
hardware layers can be detected and handled at runtime, right ?

Hi Walid,

No, this parts is not generated for ASIL-B. This device is functional safety quality-managed, but it is not independently ASIL-B. This safety classification is a SYSTEM-level determination for the designer. The full FMEDA assists in this determination.

So TCAN1462-Q1 is not independantly ASIL B themselve but it's ASIL B at the system level at system level (by using detection fault mechanism via microncontroller, right ?
