MAX3232: X-ray and Automatic washing standards for MAX3232

Part Number: MAX3232

Tool/software:

Hello experts,

I'm reaching out on behalf of one of our customers, to check whether our RS232 Transceiver MAX3232 3V-5.5V

Is compatible with the following processes, and up to which level?

  1. Automatic washing (water + degreaser)
  2. X-ray inspection (RX)

I know that we have a https://www.ti.com/support-quality/reliability/reliability-home.html Reliabilty page on ti.com that should answer these on a general level, but due to the fact this information is highly critical to ensure compliance with their requirements, I wanted to verify the specifics with you.

Thanks for the help!

  • Hi Vlad,

I believe this document can help answer your questions about the automatic washing:

As mentioned on the X-ray section from our reliability website, we do not specify acceptable x-ray levels for each device in the datasheets. But generally our products will not be sensitive to X-ray exposure < 100 rad (Si). However, I would recommend the customer test the device when exposing above that threshold. For this particular device, X-ray exposure will likely be fine.

    Best,

    Ethan
