DP83869EVM: Connecting the DP83869EVM to PC using USB-2-MDIO

Tool/software:

I got the DP83869EVM for the purpose of transmitting RJ45 convert to SFP.

Installed the MSP430 driver and USB-2-MDIO softwear

and connected the DP83869EVM to the PC via USB cable.

then selected the port and baud rate 9600, the port HW was connected "Green".

However, when I try to read the register value, an error occurs ”Device not connected".

（The USB-2-MDIO screen is as follows.）

What are the possible causes and solutions from this?

Hi Mitsuru,

It seems like you did not select the PHY ID. please select the appropriate PHY ID and then access the registers.

Thank you for your reply.

I selected the PHY ID (e.g. 01) following your advice,

but PHY ID is not available.

When do the "Find PHY ID" , appers all PHY ID is NOI available like below.

There seems to be another problem....

Could you please let me know if there are any other points I should check to find the cause?

Hi Mitsuru,

Most likely your port is not selection properly. If possible, could you double check it on the Device Manager in your computer?

Thank you for your kind support.

As per your advice, I checked Device Manager and the correct port.

DP83869EVM and PC connected with the USB cable with a noise filter and using USB2MDIO.

The PHY was recognised and after writing the registers and doing a soft reset it worked fine.
