TUSB320: Device Selection

Part Number: TUSB320

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer is using the TUSB320 to detect current capability from the source, however they've realized that the device does not support CC communication along with detecting the pull up on the source.

Can you confirm if this is correct? If so is there an alternative part you would recommend (simple and low cost is always preferred) Thank you.

  • Hi Abigail,

Can you share a block diagram of the customers system? I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "the device".

  • Hi Vishesh,

The customer has provided me with a diagram which I can share it over email, I can loop you into the current customer thread so you can see their questions directly if that is easier. Thanks!

  • Hi Abigail,

We are able to support CC communication and detect the pull from the source on the TUSB320.

The current mode can be advertised and detected via the OUT1 and OUT2 pins in UFP mode. When in DFP mode (source side) we can only advertise 500mA and 900mA. When in UFP mode (sink side) the OUT1/2 pin prove the information as follows.

    These are the I2C registers:

Yes all PD, Port, and CC controllers are required to support CC communication at 5V. The PD controller is only required if you want to increase the voltage past 5V.
