DS100BR111: Finding redriver IC

Part Number: DS100BR111
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125BR800A, DS125BR820, DS125BR111

Tool/software:

Dear Technical Support Team,

I have been looking into the buffer following spec, do you have any recomended Redriver IC.

Input: differential

Output: differential output

Target bandwidth: 7Gbps (=3.5GHz)

Buffer input: Vdiff=50mV can be received

Equalizer is required

Best Regards,

ttd

  • Hi ttd,

I have some additional questions to better understand this use case. Your answers will help me to recommend the best device.

    • What is the protocol being used?
    • Are you looking for a linear redriver or limiting redriver?
      • Limiting redrivers include TX equalization, while linear redrivers or more transparent to feedback protocols such as link training and auto-negotiation.
    • How much EQ boost is needed at Nyquist frequency? What is the channel insertion loss?
    • How many channels/lanes need to be equalized?
    • Is EQ needed on channels transmitting in one direction only? Or is EQ needed for lanes transmitting in both directions?

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas,

    Thank you for your reply.

I would like to ask you first, is there any redriver to be able to recive Vdiff=50mV?

    • What is the protocol being used?

It is not a specific protocol, but it is an image signal.

    • Are you looking for a linear redriver or limiting redriver?

It will be a Linear Redriver for receive only.

      • How much EQ boost is needed at Nyquist frequency? What is the channel insertion loss?
      • How many channels/lanes need to be equalized?
      • Is EQ needed on channels transmitting in one direction only? Or is EQ needed for lanes transmitting in both directions?

These aren't decided, but  need to be able to accept 50mVpp for input.

      Best Regards,

      ttd

    • Hi ttd,

Thank you for your answers. We have the following redrivers which can support 7Gbps with 50mVpp input amplitude.

      • DS125BR800A: CTLE boost up to 31.6dB @ 4GHz, 8 unidirectional channels, less linear
      • DS125BR820: CTLE boost up to 9.5dB @ 4GHz, 8 unidirectional channels, more linear
      • DS125BR111: CTLE boost up to 9.5dB @ 4GHz, 1 bidirectional lane, more linear

      Best,

      Lucas
