Hi,
Let me ask you an additional questions as related below questions.
Is it possible to continue CDR output without bypassing even if LOCK is released?
Thank you for your support !

HI Takumi-san,
Thanks for your question. I'm not sure that I understand the context for your question. Please help add more details so that I can better answer your question.
If CDR does not have lock and is not bypassed, what output would you desire from the retimer?
Typically, if CDR does not have lock, the retimer is configured to output either mute signal or CDR bypassed signal. CDR bypassed signal is still impacted by CTLE.
Thanks,
Drew
Hi Drew-san,
Let me change the question as below.
In "8.2 Functional Block Diagram" in the datasheet,
it says that you can switch between Raw, Retimed, and PRBS with a selector,
but can you select Retimed even if the LOCK is released?
Thanks for your kind support.

Takumi
Hi Takumi-san,
Register 0x1E[7:5] controls the output MUX when CDR is not locked. Register 0xA5[7:5] controls the output MUX when CDR is locked.
Looking at 0xA5, 3b001 selects retimed data as output. You can try setting the same for register 0x1E[7:5], but this is not supported by TI and I'm unsure what the output would be.
Thanks,
Drew
Hi Drew-san,
Thank you very much for your reply and sorry for my late response.
Let me understand your answer as below,
So if we set the 1E[7-5] register to "001" as the same as A5[7-5] settings that enable output "retimer data", the output signal data is unknown.
This means that TI cannot guarantee the output data in case of 1E[7-5] setting is "001", and that users should not use this setting even though something signal is outputed.
Is my understand correct?
Many thanks for your kindness.
Best Regards,
Takumi
