Hello experts,

We want to use THVD1424 to the satellite project.

Are there any restrictions on using it on satellites?

We are understanding that is not protected against outgassing and radiation.

We would like to confirm whether there are any using restrictions by TI regarding the use of automotive grade products in space applications.

    Kimura-san,

    There will not be any restrictions for commercial products. However products that are intended for military and space projects may encounter export restrictions, but I am not fully knowledgable on that. For a more detailed answer, I would recommend reaching out to your regional TI FAE contact. 

    For THVD1424, please note that this device is not rated for space applications and will likely fail due to radiation. However, we do have several space rated RS-485 transceivers. THVD9491-SEP is the device I would highlight as it is closest in specs and performance to THVD1424 while being radiation tolerant. 

    Also note that THVD1424 is not an automotive grade product. It does have the same operating temperature range, but it does not go through the same automotive stress testing that our other devices go through.
