Hi Team,

On solder-mask defined what should the pad size of ESD401DPYR be?

According to our customer,

This appears to be confusing. It appears out customer on their PCB has the Solder Mask Opening smaller than the recommended PAD size.

I just need our confirmation on PAD size as SMD and NSMD, which I would think should be the same.

Hi Bill,

Yes, the pad size is the same for both NSMD and SMD. This is the response I was given from our packaging team: "The NMSD and SMD PCB pad size is the same. The difference is the design of the PCB pad, which affects the stress of the solder on the PCB pad."

Another Question

TI Pad Size = .5mm x .3mm for Part #ESD401DPYR

Our Customer PCB Pad Size (which is smaller) = .36068mm x .16002mm.

Do you have a recommended part(equivalent to Part# ESD401DPYR) that would fit this smaller land pattern?

Hi Bill,

Our smallest package we have today is DF0603 (0.6mm x 0.3mm) with a recommended PCB pad size of 0.28mm x 0.25mm. A device with similar specs to ESD401DPYR in the smaller package is ESD451DPLR (pads on device are 0.25mm x 0.18mm).

Do you think this could be an option?
