DP83826I: Ethernet PHY Hot-plug Issue - No IP Acquisition on Phytec STM32MP1 SoM

I'm experiencing a hot-plug issue with the DP83826I PHY on Phytec STM32MP1 SoM with custom carrier board:

When the system is powered on and I connect an ethernet cable:
- Orange LED stays solid ON (indicates 100Mbps connection)
- Green LED blinks (indicates activity/link)
- However, the interface cannot acquire an IP address
If I reboot the system with the ethernet cable connected, it works perfectly and gets an IP

Is there a recommended register configuration (or any idea) to properly handle hot-plug scenarios? Also, is this LED behavior correct for a situation where IP acquisition fails?

Hello,

Is the LED behavior consistent when (power on then connect cable) vs (power on with cable already connected)?

If so, this may mean there are issues from a SW standpoint upchain as the PHY appears to be doing its job.

Hi Batuhan,

If this is the case, the issue looks to lie upstream of the PHY. I would recommend checking with the MAC vendor to understand why this behavior is happening.
