TCAN1042HGV: TCAN1042HDR vs. TCAN1042HGV

Part Number: TCAN1042HGV

Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer (component engineer) is running into CAN communication issues when testing the TCAN1042HGV. We are trying to get this qualified in the place of the TCAN1042HDR. It looks like the main difference is PIN 5. They usually do not have this connected, but the "V" version seems to use this pin. If this pin is not connected on the "V" version, is the transceiver not going to work?

Thanks,

Jason Maxwell

  • Hi Jason,

Unfortunately, VIO pin needs to be supplied for transceiver work correctly as the device will go into protected mode if VIO is not supplied, disabling any CAN communication similar to table 9-2 of the data sheet. If VIO is not used, please use the devices without "V", thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
