DS125DF1610EVM: difficulty talking to EVM

Part Number: DS125DF1610EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hello,

I have been struggling to talk to a DS125DF1610EVM retimer. I have SigCon Architect v2.0.0.8 with the retimer’s profile loaded on it. I also have USB2ANY Explorer. When I open SigCon Architect or USB2ANY Explorer I am prompted to update the USB2ANY firmware every time. I do that, and can toggle the LED on the USB2ANY. But I cannot talk to the board itself. I get a ‘address invalid’ error but a) I believe I am using the correct address (0x30) and b) I have tried all the addresses in the drop down list and none of them have worked. Also the USB2ANY interface is constantly crashing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Can you share a picture of your EVM showing all jumper placements? I'd like to confirm they are configured correctly.

Are you using an external USB2ANY connected to the I2C bus on board, or are you using the on-board MSP430 microcontroller with the USB plug?

Are you powering the board with 3.3V or 2.5V?

It's normal to need to update USB2ANY firmware when switching between SigCon Architect and USB2ANY Explorer as these programs require different FW versions. When using USB2ANY Explorer, are you able to read/write any retimer registers?

    Best,

    Lucas
