TCAN1463-Q1: operation at higher temp

Part Number: TCAN1463-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I have question concerning the AEC-Q100 Qualification Grade 1. For example the TCAN1463-Q1 is qualified based on Grade 1 => Operating temperature -40 – 125°C Ambient.

Case Study: ECU Ambient temperature 125°C, due to other losses in ECU the air inside the ECU and the PCB Surface temperature rises to 135°C.

Using the Datasheet Values for power dissipation and the Junction-to-ambient thermal resistance I calculate a junction temperature of 135° + 0.135W * 39.7C°/W = 140.4 C°

This is roughly 10K below the recommended maximum operating junction temperature. Is it feasible to use a AEC-Q100 Grade 1 Device under this conditions although the IC ambient temperature is above 125°C?

Thank you,

Daria
