Hi,
What is FSU function? Please share more details about your system and the use-case.
Thank you,
Evan
The FSU (Fast Start Up) feature of PROFINET is a quick start function designed to shorten the preparation time for data exchange during device startup. By enabling the FSU function, IO devices (such as distributed I/O devices) can immediately exchange process data with the main station after power on, significantly reducing communication preparation time to less than 500 milliseconds. It is particularly suitable for industrial application scenarios that require fast switching, such as the welding fixture replacement process in the automotive industry

Application scenarios and advantages of FSU function
The FSU function is mainly applied in industrial scenarios that require frequent replacement of substation equipment, such as the welding fixture replacement process in the automotive industry. In this application, every time the fixture is replaced, the communication connection needs to be re established. Traditional methods require a few seconds, but the FSU function can shorten the communication preparation time to less than 500 milliseconds, significantly improving production efficiency

Implementation method of FSU function
To implement the FSU function, it is necessary to use the GSDML device description file specially adapted for quick startup in the main controller software. In addition, communication cables need to use crossover cables and avoid using switches. If switches must be used, their ports should be set to non auto negotiate and 100Mbps full duplex mode
Please refer to DP83867 sections in this appnote:

Following the configuration noted for disabling auto-negotiation, forced speed, FLD enable, the PHY is expected to be compliant with fast start-up time required for PROFINET.
Thank you,
Evan
