Hi Wouter,

I would look into TCAN1057AV or TCAN1044AV:

Both are available in the DDF package (SOT-23-THN 8.12 mm² 2.9 x 2.8).
The "V" version means that device has a VIO pin where the logic pins can be reference to a 3.3V supply.
Data rates above 1 Mbps are supported.
Both have +/-58V bus fault protection for the CANH/L lines.
Please clarify what you mean by "internally integrated protection." Are you looking for a certain level of ESD protection?

Hello Ethan,

My bad, I was referencing to 3.3Vsupply. I think these are not able to operate in that voltage domain.

With the "internally integrated protection" I mean the read circled part, see attached figure.

Hi Wouter,

No worries. In that case I would recommend TCAN3403 or TCAN3404 (section 4 in the datasheet explains the differences between these). These are some of our latest CAN transceivers that use a 3.3V supply but are still fully compatible with other 5V CAN transceivers and the ISO 11898 standard.

As for the screenshot you provided, that block is just a place holder for various methods of bus protection. TCAN340X does include ESD protection (section 6.2 and 6.3 in the datasheet), but generally we still recommend adding an external protection diode such as ESD2CAN24-Q1 for a robust system.
